While dad’s away the girls will play! Jeremy was gone hunting last weekend so Evelyn and I made playdough. The real ingredients are a little messy, so I gave Evie a set of spoons, a mixing bowl, cheerios and animal crackers so that she felt part of the cooking process. She mixed her ingredients while I mixed the playdough ingredients. Added bonus – she could eat hers!

Evie loved watching the color swirl together in each bowl. We would have loved to dive in and play with the colorful dough right away, but it was still pretty hot and sticky. Taking full advantage of the freshly fallen snow, I put the bowls out on the deck to hurry along the cooling process. Once they were cooled, it was time to play! It didn’t take long before the colors intertwined and mushed together making a rainbow of new colors in the process.

I hope you enjoy this playful activity as much as we did! (recipe below)

Added fun
  1. Food coloring (I used neon colors)

Notes
  1. Multiply the ingredients times number of different colors you wish to create. I made four different colors of playdough.
