Oh, Hello Fall! Even though we have zero landscaping (besides a fresh lawn) I still wanted to decorate our front porch for the first Fall in our new home. The stained wood truss and gable is my very favorite feature of the exterior of our home. It’s the perfect nook to frame my seasonal decor and serves as a cozy welcoming entrance to usher guests into our home.

Our Fall front porch features modern autumn pumpkins, an apple crate turned on it’s side, an antique metal fishing bucket sprouting fall flowers, chippy classic urn planters, and small mums. I also added a buffalo check mat in front of our welcome doormat and a twiggy fall wreath I’ve had for years.

Oh Hello Fall Welcome Porch Sign by East in A Day - Fall Front Porch

My favorite addition to my fall front porch is my “Oh, Hello Fall” vertical sign handmade and gifted to me by East in a Day. East in a Day is owned by a crafty mom who squeezes in her design business after bedtime while her kiddos are safely tucked in their beds. Her prices are super reasonable, go check out her Etsy shop here

I just love fall… there’s something about wearing boots and sweaters, sipping on pumpkin spiced lattes, visiting the apple orchard, picking out the perfect pumpkin, getting creative with kids’ Halloween costumes, baking all the goodies, and decorating with mums and wooden crates! 1. Hey Sarah! I love you front porch columns! I see that you responded to a comment saying Chestnut and char wood semi external, but how did you layer them? Do you know which one you did first and how many coats of eat one?
    Love it! Thanks!

  2. Hey Sarah! It’s Mackenzie again… also! Sherman Williams does not have Chestnut semi transparent external. Did you possible use chestnut semi SOLD external? And then charwood semi transparent on top of it? Sherman Williams only has charwood in the sold transparent
    Sorry! Thank you!

    1. Hi! We used both in Semi-solid stain. It was a happy accident how they turned out. They were stained in Charwood and I didn’t like it. Thought it was to gray. So I had them put Chesnut over it. They normally don’t do it that way but like I said it was because I didn’t like the way they looked. Our carpenter did them so I’m not sure how they layered it exactly! The colors are Charwood SW3542SS and Chesnut SW3524SS 🙂

  3. Hi. This is the color I have been trying to get in buying stains. But, I’ve had no luck. Could you tell me what type of wood your columns are made out of? I’m definitely going to check my Sherwin Williams store for these colors and see how they turn out. I truly appreciate your help. We have looked and looked through different stains, and bought some, trying to achieve this grayish color.

  4. Hi Sarah! My husband and I are building our house. I am in love with the color of your porch columns! Can you tell me the color or stain and brand you used? Thank you so much!!

    1. Hi! It was the result of not liking the first color I chose! I picked Sherwin Williams Charwood but I thought it looked too gray. So had them go over it with SW Chestnut!
