When you have a young family you get to decide what will become your own family traditions. Traditions that your kids will grow up knowing and remembering when they look back at their childhood. Ever since Jeremy and I started dating we always took a day to pick out a real Christmas tree. You can’t beat the sweet Christmasy fragrance of a Douglas Fir filling up your family room during the holidays!

This past weekend we all bundled up and went to a Christmas tree farm to hunt down the perfect tree for our home. The farm featured a picturesque red Wisconsin barn that was converted into a store filled with Christmas goodies. They had complimentary hot apple cider, photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus in front of a backdrop of rustic barnwood and plenty of beautiful lush Christmas trees.

The weather was mild and comfortable as we went out on our search. I definitely stumbled over a few chopped tree trunks along the way! Evie loved breathing in the fresh air and exploring the field of trees. (Bonus ~ she slept like a rock that night!)

We ended up just missing Santa so we will have to make another Santa trip later on this month. Going out on a Christmas tree hunt is a tradition that Jeremy and I will continue to carry on throughout the years. It’s more than just putting a tree up as a decoration for the holidays. It’s a day filled with adventure and memories for our family. I get to lace up my cute snow boots, my hubby gets to be a lumberjack and Evelyn gets to soak it all in. Win, win, win!

What Christmas traditions do you and your family look forward to each year?

Shout out to my sister and her husband who came with us and took all the fun photos while we were there! xo

  1. That tree farm sounds like an AMAZING experience for the little ones! Your family is adorbs 😀 We also chose to get a real xmas tree each year but there are no tree farms in our area. My daughter loves decorating our tree though and still talks about daddy helping her put the star on last year!
