When I was pregnant with Evelyn, I was a little nervous about how our cat Duster would get along with her. He’s ridiculously energetic and playful. I was nervous he would jump in her crib or, even worse, bite her if she was a little too rough with him. My fears have been put to rest as these two have become best friends. It’s like Duster knew that she was someone he had to protect and love. She pulls his tail and he just walks away or let’s her do it without care!
Even though these two hit it off from day one, I think it’s a good idea to nourish that relationship between your pets and little ones. Evelyn absolutely loves feeding Duster his food and chasing him around! She says “treeeeaaaat” in a high pitched call to get him to come eat his food. It’s pretty adorable!
In order to help build that special bond between Evie and her kitty, we made a Kitty Cat Face Mask using a paper plate so that she can look just like her furry bestie! It’s super easy and fun for toddlers to help make.
Here’s what we used to make our Kitty Cat Face Mask:
- Paper plate
- Glue
- Tape
- Scissors
- Self-adhesive pearls
- Scrapbook paper
- Paper straw
We cut out eyes, created a kitty face with paper and pearls (don’t forget the whiskers!), and added two little ears. A glued-on paper straw completed our project, making it easy for Evelyn to hold up to her face and pretend she too is a kitty!
I’m pretty sure our Kitty Cat Face Mask is Pinterest-worthy! I love exploring Pinterest for fun ideas. Have you seen how cute the Nutrish for Cats Pinterest page is? They have a board called Cat-tacular DIYs… love that name!
We showed our craft to Duster and while he didn’t seem entirely amused, Evelyn certainly got lots of giggles out of it! Duster just continued to enjoy his Rachael Ray™ Nutrish® Grain Free Wet Food. We feel good feeding it to him because it’s made with real meat which absolutely does not have an icky by-products, fillers or artificial ingredients in it. Rachael Ray creates her pet food much like the human recipes we all know and love from her.
Duster has always preferred chicken, so he eats the Chicken Purrcata® flavor. It’s made with real U.S. farm raised chicken as the #1 ingredient. We buy our cat food at our local grocery store Copps, but it’s sold at a wide variety of stores. Just click here to find all the places you can purchase Rachael Ray™ Nutrish® Grain Free Wet Food for cats.
Do you know another reason why purchasing this brand is so great? All of Rachael Ray’s personal proceeds go to Rachael’s Rescue, helping shelter pets in need. Hopefully, one day, those furry pets will find a family who loves them as much as Evelyn loves her Duster!
What’s your kitty’s name? How do you nourish that bond between your pet and your little ones?

We only have cats, no human kids yet, but I did have to get creative with blending our family when Jay moved in- Truffles did not want to share! It looks like your daughter truly is building a special bond! #client
