I’m almost 36 weeks along in my pregnancy and summer weather is in full swing. The weekends seem to be packed with events and celebrations, accompanied by good food and drinks. This past weekend we traveled back to my parent’s house to celebrate Evelyn’s 3rd birthday and Father’s Day. While we were staying there, my mom and I found time to sit on her back patio to share tales of motherhood and enjoy fruity Ocean Spray® Mocktails, with a little sunshine on the side.
I was telling my mom how I’m getting nervous about the delivery of this babe, as memories of those lovely contractions are starting to come back. I ended up having a c-section with Evie because my water broke and she was breach. This time around, I’m going to try to have a regular birth, but having been through a c-section once, I’m not scared if I end up having to go that route again. I’m MORE afraid of those contractions! Eek! My mom, having gone through it SEVEN times herself, reminded me that the pain is short-lived and you forget about most of it once you have that sweet little babe in your arms. That is so true! (And yes, I said seven! I have one older sister and five younger brothers!)
As we shared stories of babies and birth, we sipped on the BEST mocktails a girl could ask for during pregnancy. They were refreshing, delicious, and looked beautiful. I have to admit, I miss having a cocktail on a nice summer day or during celebrations. It feels strange saying “cheers” with a glass of water. I know a lot of my fellow pregnant mamas, know exactly how I feel! During pregnancy, I like to order or prepare drinks that feel more special than just having water or iced tea.
Ocean Spray® makes it easier than ever with their new line of Mocktails made with real fruit juice and inspired by popular cocktails! I also appreciate that there are no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives. I would suggest adding a little sparkling water for yourself, and wine or liquor for your non-preggo friends. They come in three fun flavors – Cranberry Peach Bellini, Cranberry Sangria, and Tropical Citrus Paradise. My fav is the Tropical Citrus Paradise! Mmmm! These drinks feel special, but are definitely appropriate to enjoy everyday.
Wish me luck on my last few weeks of pregnancy. My due date of July 22nd is coming up quickly! And lastly, I’d like to raise a glass and say “cheers!” to my mom for doing this seven times! This is only my second and I have no idea how she did it that many times, and raised us all too! So cheers to you mom, and thank you for all of your support during my pregnancies and beyond. 🙂
