My first baby boy. My second baby. My little Levi James. Am I really already planning his first birthday party? How did his first year go by so quickly? He suddenly has a head full of hair, two adorable teeth, and is showing signs of walking! I’m feeling all the feels lately as I watch him grow, and I have mixed emotions about my baby turning one.

These baby moments seem to be fleeting. I figured with my second baby, I’d be able to soak it all in a little bit more because I am a seasoned mom. I could worry less about learning and spend more time just observing. BUT what am I thinking? I have a toddler too! Life is a whirlwind, and being home with two kids has me pulled in different directions at all times. 

I will say that I am SO SO grateful that I’ve been able to stay home with Levi as he reaches all his first year milestones. With Evelyn, I worked full-time so I missed out on some of the moments I’ve been able to capture with Levi. Like the first time he rolled over, the first time he clapped, and the first time he crawled. Yet, even though I’ve gotten to spend so much more time with Levi during this first year than with Evelyn, I still feel like it’s going way too fast. 

I want to hold onto those little baby moments. Those squishy cheeks. That little gumless grin. That chubby little hand reaching out for my face. Those sweet soft cotton bodysuits that I feel against my skin as I nurse him.

I can’t believe my first baby is turning four years old and my second is turning one this summer. I’m both sad and happy for the upcoming milestone, filled with mixed emotions that my baby is turning one. I love watching Levi grow as we celebrate each special moment with him, yet part of me wants to hit the pause button and keep him little forever. 

The big first birthday is a HUGE milestone for both baby and mom. If you’re feeling a little sad and a whole ball of mixed emotions about your baby turning one you’re not alone. Most moms I know feel exactly the same way. So today I’m going to stare a little longer and soak in all the cuddles because he’s still my baby, and I still have time, even if it’s fleeting.
