When you’re a kid, nothing is more exciting than fresh snow! How much more fun would your kids have if they could make Fresh Snow Ice Cream to enjoy as a traditional treat?!
I remember when I was a kid, fresh snow meant a day when school was cancelled and we could play instead, a day of sledding or building snow forts, a day of hot cocoa and other wintertime treats. But, I have never had fresh ice cream snow before today!
The kids and I shoveled the snow and played it in before heading in the house to warm up. Then, I got out a few ingredients so that we could make our fresh snow ice cream. Milk, sugar, vanilla extract, salt, and your favorite sprinkles are the only things you need. Well, and SNOW of course!
Mix everything but the snow beforehand in a metal bowl, if you have one. Then, go outside and gather up about 6-8 cups of fresh snow. Slowly mix it all together, scoop it out into bowls, and top with your favorite sprinkles! The kids thought it was the coolest treat ever! They laughed and came up with all sorts of different ways to make it the next time it snowed.
Evie wants to add food coloring next time so that she can have purple fresh snow ice cream! It would also be fun to add fresh berries or chocolate sauce. I would even love to try a turtle sundae! My favorite 🙂
I feel like this is going to be our new family tradition and something the kids will get really excited about each winter when that fresh snow starts coming down.
