Thank you Culver’s for sponsoring this post.
There’s nothing like enjoying a juicy burger to make you think of Summer! Our family loves visiting Culver’s to enjoy a delicious family meal together. What could be better than a ButterBurger followed up by a Frozen Custard treat?!
I was recently invited to Culver’s Headquarters to kick off burger season with a behind-the-scenes look into what goes into making a ButterBurger! If you follow me on Instagram, I’m sure you saw all the deliciousness in action. It was an extra special trip because I got to bring along my husband Jeremy, who was more than happy to enjoy a Culver’s ButterBurger Cheese fixed just the way he likes it.
Let’s get into the insider information I learned during my visit to Culver’s Headquarters…
BEHIND-THE-SCENES ACCESS AT CULVER’S HEADQUARTERS
During our visit, we met a few of the folks behind the Culver’s brand, toured the test kitchen where ButterBurgers are perfected and new menu items are created, learned exactly how ButterBurgers are made, and tasted it all along the way.
If you’re from Wisconsin, you know that Culver’s started right here in our state, but what you might not know is that Culver’s now has 700 stores in 25 states. Culver’s is one of the main reasons why more and more people have tasted hot Cheese Curds as they have brought this local food favorite to several other cities around the country.
We even got to meet Craig Culver, the founder of Culver’s! And of course, I asked him to take a photo with me and he obliged! Such a nice guy! When I told him where I was from, he knew each of the Culver’s franchise owners by name at all three locations in my city.
NOW, LET’S TALK BUTTERBURGERS…
One of the main reasons why Culver’s ButterBurgers, and all other Culver’s burgers, taste so delicious is because they are made fresh, never frozen, and are only grilled once ordered. YOU get to customize just how you want your burger. Order the Culver’s Deluxe, ButterBurger Cheese, or ButterBurger as a Single, Double or Triple. For me, I love a ButterBurger Cheese, topped with crisp lettuce, juicy tomato, real Wisconsin cheese, and a mixture of ketchup and mayo. Mmmmmm! Give me a side of Cheese Curds with a tall cup of Culver’s Signature Root Beer and life is good.
Did you know WHY they’re called ButterBurgers? A lot of people get this one wrong and think it has something to do with the meat. But, it’s actually because the bun is lightly buttered with REAL butter and toasted to perfection. Culver’s burger meat is created using three primary cuts of beef sourced from the Midwest and has no fillers or artificial ingredients in it. It’s never frozen, always fresh. When you use beef this good a dash of salt and pepper is all it needs to taste delicious.
Culver’s secret weapon to get your ButterBurgers out fast, is their specially designed nickel and chrome plated flat top stove that allows the burgers to be cooked in just 30 seconds on each side before they’re ready to eat! Now that’s FAST!
Check it out, they even let me flip a burger! (I definitely need more practice!)
WRAPPING UP OUR CULVER’S BUTTERBURGER CHAT
My favorite insider quote of the day was when Quinn Adkins, Culver’s Director of Culver’s Menu Development, said, “We are in the people business and we happen to serve great food”. It really resonated with me since I associate burgers with people. For me, sharing a burger with family and friends is the first thing that comes to mind when someone says “burger”. Burgers make me think about gathering with the people I love and enjoying good food and fun with them.
Culver’s knows that their food needs to be great, but so does the experience… and the combination of the two makes Culver’s one of the best spots to grab a burger this summer!

We need a Culver’s out here in Southern California! I haven’t ate Culver’s deliciousness in a decade! I miss it!
It’s so yummy! They are in 25 states now!
