Levi’s Construction Truck themed 2nd birthday party was a hit! He absolutely loved everything about it, but the DIY Construction Truck Birthday Cake was the star of the show. His eyes lit up when he saw it and he continues to tell everybody all about it.

I saved SO much money by putting his construction truck cake together myself! And, I had a lot of fun doing it too. Anyone can do this. Seriously, it was so easy.

The easiest way to do this is to go to your local grocery store and buy two different sized round chocolate cakes. I bought mine from Walmart’s bakery. Or, you can make the cake yourself using two tiered cake pans like these. You’ll save money by buying these simple cakes. Just place the smaller one on top of the larger one to create your fancy looking two-tiered birthday cake!

DIY Construction Truck Birthday Cake Supplies

• Two Round Chocolate Cakes in different sizes
• (Or bake your own with these inexpensive cake pans)
• M&M’s Minis
• Whoppers
• Oreo Cookies
• Mini Toy Truck Toppers
• Blue Birthday Candle
• Cake Stand w/ edge lip (love this yellow one!)

DIY Construction Truck Birthday Cake Steps

1. Place the larger cake on the cake stand (push it back so you have room in front to create a truck scene) and the smaller one on top of that. (Using a cake stand with a lip keeps all the candy in place.)
2. Take a cake server and cut a piece out of the top tier and a chunk out of the bottom tier. It’s okay if it’s messy! That’s the point. Use some of the cake to make it look more like a dirt pile. (Eat the rest 😉
3. Place the chocolate Whoppers around the rim of each cake. Pour leftovers in a bowl to serve to guests. They look like boulders!
4. Crush the Oreos in a blender. Sprinkle all around the base of your cake stand to fill up the space.
5. Place mini truck cake toppers all around the cake however you like.
6. Spill mini M&M’s inside the dump trucks and scoops and spilling down the cake.
7. Place a birthday candle on top and you’re done!
