A spooktacular new Halloween tradition perfect for kicking off October is creating Halloween BOO Baskets filled with goodies for the season. It’s a fun way to build the excitement for Halloween and Trick-or-Treating.

Let’s build a BOO Basket together! These are my favorite items to tuck inside the kids’ magical little baskets.

LET’S BUILD A BOO BASKET

First, start with a basket that you can use in your home all year round like the one I used or a themed Halloween basket or bucket.

Then, choose a name tag like these adorable Halloween themed tags made by Whisker Works. The 3-D cut names are my favorite feature and the price-point is so reasonable! I chose the cat and ghost, but they also have a spider and pumpkin available.

Fill the BOO Basket

  1. Halloween Pajamas
  2. Halloween Book
  3. Halloween Stuffed Animal
  4. Halloween Craft
  5. Halloween Candy
  6. Extra Goodies

HALLOWEEN PAJAMAS – These adorable blue ghost and purple puppy Halloween jammies are from GAP Kids, but they sold out so early this year. I found a few spooky alternatives for you to choose from.

HALLOWEEN BOOK – I’m so in love with the non-spooky messages inside these Halloween books. The Little Kitten has reflective foil features and cut-outs built into its beautiful pages. The story is a sweet message about a lost kitten finding it’s way home.

The Little Kitten Halloween Book - The Little Ghost who was a Quilt Book #kidsbooks #halloweenbooks

My kids LOVE The Little Ghost Who Was a Quilt. It’s about ghost who is sad because he’s different from all the other ghosts who are light and airy sheets. But, in the end he gets to experience something only a ghost who is a quilt could, and realizes how special he is as a quilt. SO cute!

Find my Halloween book list in my Amazon shop for even more suggestions.

HALLOWEEN STUFFED ANIMAL – My kids love stuffed animals. This cute unicorn and dinosaur wearing Halloween costumes will be fun take out year after year. Target has several different ones to choose from and they are only $8 each!

HALLOWEEN CRAFT – A themed craft to keep the kids busy is perfect for a BOO Basket. I grabbed these wooden paint sets from the Dollar Spot. A haunted cookie house is a fun play on a gingerbread house, and includes all the frosting and sprinkles to decorate with.

HALLOWEEN CANDY – I filled little milk jars that I already own with candy corn! I put the rest of the candy corn in this glass pumpkin shaped candy jar.

EXTRA GOODIES – I added a LED light-up ghost (anything that lights up is fun during Halloween!). An educational add-in is always great too.

These travel sized chalk boards are my new obsession. You can build your own travel set right here. We also love our custom chalkboards with the kids names on them so that they can practice writing their names. they also make for adorable wall decor 😉
