A Zero Plans Weekend

January 25, 2016January 28, 2016 - Sarah 5 Comments
Coloring like artists on a zero plans weekend.

Don’t get me wrong, I love having plans and fun things lined up to do on the weekend, but I absolutely cherish a plan-free weekend when it comes around. That is exactly what happened this past weekend… zero plans. My husband played in a hockey tournament in town so Evelyn and I got to hang out,Read more

Book Club! Want to join me?

January 22, 2016May 15, 2016 - Sarah 16 Comments

One of my goals for this year is to read more books. I spend so much time reading little bits and pieces of news, social media and emails. I realize this is how society works these days. We are fast-paced and want the short version of whatever we’re working on so we can move onRead more

Chilly Weather Calls for A Chili Recipe

Recipe for southwest chili.

Brrrrrr! It is ZERO degrees here in Wisconsin and the “feels like” temp is even worse. It has been a pretty mild winter up to this point, so I haven’t been as motivated to make some of the warm and cozy winter meals I typically like to indulge in. But now that it’s ridiculously cold outside,Read more

Easy butternut squash recipe

I’ve been getting stuck in a cooking rut lately. Meal planning turns into the same grocery list far too often in our household. I wanted to try a new side dish and I’ve never prepared butternut squash before, so I thought I’d give it a shot. Turns out, it’s ridiculously easy to add this simple cozy winterRead more

Nesting Table Makeover

January 3, 2016January 5, 2016 - Sarah 1 Comment

Inspired by Pinterest, HGTV and all things DYI, I decided to give a makeover to a pair of nesting tables my mom was ready to give to Goodwill. They were sad looking little wooden tables that needed to be brightened up and brought back to life. I headed to Menards and picked up the followingRead more

This bagel dip recipe post contains affiliate links.  Evelyn and I made bagel dip for New Year’s Eve! Poor little girl hit her noggin on a short table walking over to see what I was up to, so I held her the rest of the process and wiped away her big crocodile tears. She was such aRead more

Christmas Madness & Magic

Christmas Madness & Magic

Christmas Eve ended up being pretty rough for Evelyn. We were traveling and hoped she’d fall asleep in the car, but of course that did not happen. By the time we got to the party, she was already a bit cranky and it didn’t help that she was fighting a cold and teething! She ended up gettingRead more

Apparently the “AI Facebook Marketplace cabinet” debate isn’t over. 😂

After reading so many of your comments, I had to show it from another angle! I honestly can’t decide if I like it angled in the corner or pushed flush against the wall.

So now I’m leaving it up to the Internet…

✨ Which looks better: ANGLED or FLUSH? Tell me why - I want to hear your vote!

Nothing for breakfast? Challenge accepted. 🍁🥚☕️

After having to throw away all of our eggs, I decided to skip the grocery store and source breakfast the local way. I love that we have so many amazing local options right in our area!

Here’s where we stopped:

🍁 Taps Maple Syrup — local maple syrup
🥛 Park Ridge Organics — Farm Staples chocolate milk, Thunderbird Bakery bread, Freis Von Kiel Salted Butter, and Prairie Gold pasture-raised organic eggs

There’s just something special about knowing where your food comes from and supporting the people who make it possible. ❤️

Also… if you’re upgrading your kitchen, don’t forget about my favorite non-toxic nonstick pans from @caraway_home . You can use code SUGARMAPLENOTES10 for 10% off (even on top of their sales!).

Thanks for coming along for our little breakfast adventure! 🍳✨

If you’re looking for an EPIC summer memory to make this year… consider hosting a DIY slip-and-slide backyard party! 💦☀️

The verdict is in… the kids and the adults loved this one! Everyone brought a dish to pass, we spent the evening laughing and playing outside, then ended the night warming up by a giant bonfire 🔥

And of course… we had homemade milkshakes with all the fun toppings because what’s a summer party without a little sweetness?! 🍦✨

This was definitely a summer night to remember.

Would your family love a backyard party like this? 👇

I can’t begin to tell you how grateful I am for this family. 🤍

It all started with my mom and dad, who welcomed seven children into the world and created a home where laughter, friendship, and togetherness were simply part of everyday life.

As adults, we all scattered in different directions to build lives of our own. But somehow, one by one, we found our way back to the place our family has long called home, choosing to raise our own children close to the people who first taught us what family means.

Watching our parents’ love grow into seven children, five wonderful significant others, and 14 grandchildren is something I’ll never take for granted.

This life has reminded me that it’s never really about where you are. It’s about who you’re with.

I’m endlessly thankful for these people, these memories, and this family that just keeps growing. 🤍

The older I get, the more I realize that the people who choose to make time for you are giving you one of the greatest gifts they have.

In a world that feels busy and loud, the text, the phone call, the coffee date, and the “I was thinking about you” matter more than ever. 🤍
