That’s right! We’re finally going to be moving into our new home this weekend! If you’ve been following along, you know that we’ve been building a new home and living with my parents for the past six months.

It’s been a whirlwind of new beginnings for our family since Levi was born. To recap, we welcomed Levi in July, put our house on the market two weeks later, and it sold after the first open house! Jeremy took a new job and I left my event planning job to blog and stay home with our kiddos.

We moved back to our hometown and into my parent’s house in September, which is the same month we broke ground on our house. Just shy of six months later, we are gearing up to move into our newly built home this weekend!

Moving back in with my parents with a new baby, a toddler, and a husband in tow has been quite the experience. We put the majority of our belongings in storage, taking only a limited number of items to our temporary post. We basically, just brought our clothes, our bed, a few baby items and Evelyn’s favorite stuffed animals since my parents have pretty much everything else we need.

While Evelyn has her own room in one of the guest bedrooms, Levi has been sleeping in a pack-and-play next to my husband and me in the basement. Since he doesn’t have a nursery here, we make due by throwing a changing pad on the bed to use as his changing station when needed.  I think the hardest part when packing up our old home was tearing down Levi’s new nursery before he even got the chance to use it! I packed up his adorable new crib and all the décor and furniture before he ever got the chance to sleep in his own room.

To make our combined space in the basement work, the one thing that has been a must-have baby item is the Playtex® Diaper Genie® Complete. A regular garbage can full of smelly diapers would have been awful in our basement space that acts as our bedroom, living room, AND nursery. Seeing that we have a make-shift diaper changing station on the bed, I need to keep one hand on Levi, leaving me with only one other hand to toss the diaper in! Thank goodness for baby products designed to make my life easier!

As we wrap up our time here at my parent’s house, I’ve been reflecting on the time we’ve spent here. I’m so grateful that we’ve had the opportunity to live here during the transition to our new build. Levi has grown so much in such a short amount of time. He’s experienced many firsts at his grandparent’s house. He rolled over for the first time, smiled for the first time, celebrated his first Christmas, ate his first foods, crawled, waved, and just this week he started sitting up fully all by himself!

Both Levi and Evelyn have been surrounded by love and family and the memories from the last few months will be cherished. Yet, now it’s time for new beginnings in our new home. We designed it with our family in mind… it’s the home where our kids will grow up!

They will experience many more firsts and I can’t wait to get in there and make that house our home. You betcha I’ll be making up that nursery again, and I can’t wait to see it all come together. (I actually picked out the Diaper Genie® color to match the gray paint in our new house, LOL!)
