We’re finally moved into our new home! Let the decorating begin! Little by little, box by box, this house already feels like home. I thought I’d begin my series of room reveals with our entryway. Or do you call yours a foyer? Either way, our home aesthetic leans towards a modern farmhouse vibe throughout, starting as soon as you walk through the doorway.
We went with a mix of oil-rubbed bronze and brushed nickel metals throughout the house. In our entryway, you’ll notice the oil-rubbed bronze door locks. I wanted a lever style handle that would be easy for the kids to use and also a decorative plate to add a touch of beauty and that farmhouse style I oh so love. We used the Accent Lever with Camelot trim from Schlage throughout our entire home.
This is one of my FAVORITE light fixtures and the one I get the most comments on! I knew I just had to have a wood-beaded chandelier in my entryway. This one is the Nehemiah 3-Light Empire Chandelier by Bungalow Rose and you can purchase it at Wayfair. I love the natural wood beads and rustic oil-rubbed bronze finish. My husband wasn’t so sure when I first showed him this one, but now that it’s up in our home he loves it. Check it out at night. It casts beautiful decorative shadows on the walls and gives off a warm welcoming glow.
The real show-stopper is our flooring. It warms up our entire house and has that rustic/reclaimed farmhouse look that we wanted. We have so many white and gray finishes that we made sure to pick a floor that would add warmth. Once the flooring went in, the house instantly felt one hundred times cozier. And guess what?! It’s laminate! And it’s so hard to tell. They look AND feel so real!
This is the Milltown 12mm Laminate from Lake Street Home. I absolutely love the wide planks and all the character throughout. The circle-saw marks, scrapes, knots, and woodgrain not only resemble real wood, they also feel like the textures of real wood. These are the perfect floors to have with kids because they hide any nicks, scratches or dents since they already come with that “worn-in” look and feel.
It would actually be pretty hard to ruin this flooring to begin with because it’s very durable. It carries the highest non-commercial wear rating available to laminate flooring, so thank goodness for that! I’ll be writing an entire post about these floors, so stay tuned for that if you want to learn more. And, if you are in the market to buy new flooring, here’s the link to the exact flooring. When I started analyzing the floorplans, it was difficult for me to envision how the entryway would look in real life. I took a guess that a round rug would look best based off the dimensions, and I was right! I love natural rugs and this Maui Jute Decorative Circles Rug from RugsUSA just looks beautiful in the space. It also hides dirt really well, so I don’t have to worry about it looking dirty from shoes.
A faux fiddle leaf plant that I snagged at TJMaxx and a woven bench that I had in my last home finish the space, for now. I still plan to add coat hooks and maybe another decorative picture or mirror to the opposite wall. It feels SO good to be in our new home and I can’t wait to show you more!

Love your faux fiddle leaf plant. Adds a pop of color to the space…or maybes that fantastic chandelier…or the fun rug. All of it! 😊
Thank you!!! 🙂
Beautiful Sarah. Love your floors. We did ours (which look very similar to yours) last year and have been very happy with the product. The kids are so rough on everything and it is nice knowing our floor can take it LOL
Thank you! I’m so happy with how they turned out! They look great with all of our furniture too. I agree, they are awesome for kids.
This is my welcome mat.
