Our white modern farmhouse kitchen! Kitchens are an important part of a home, yet for me it was the easiest room to design since I knew exactly what I wanted.
A few of the things at the top of my list were white cabinets, a large island, a farmhouse sink, and a space big enough for our farmhouse table that had been collecting dust in our formal dining room in our last home. We also knew we wanted an open concept kitchen, so that our family and friends could gather in one space. So, that’s exactly where we started and then chose each of the other design elements from there.
I received several products mentioned in this kitchen reveal post in exchange for an honest review. Thank you House of Antique Hardware, Lake Street Home, and Elkay! This post may also contain affiliate links.
Modern Farmhouse Kitchen
FARMHOUSE SINK AND SEMI-PROFESSIONAL FAUCET
A white farmhouse sink was at the very top of my list for wants in our new build home. The sink is set into our large island so that we have a view of the over-sized windows and family room while doing the dishes rather than a wall. My big apron sink needed a showpiece of a faucet. Or what I like to call, the “jewelry” on the island!
When I came across the Elkay Avado Kitchen Faucet with Semi-Professional Spout on Instagram I knew I had to have it my kitchen. It’s quite the statement and works wonderfully with the large sink. It’s both powerful and beautiful. I love that I can reach around to every corner of the sink with the pull-out and pull-down capabilities of this faucet. I can’t get over the design!
WIDE PLANK RUSTIC FLOORING
With the white cabinetry, light stone countertops, and light gray paint, we knew we wanted to warm up the entire space with our flooring. We choose a wide plank rustic floor that truly brings life to the kitchen with a color variation that includes rich caramel stain, a deep coffee color, and auburn highlights. And, guess what?! It’s wood laminate! It’s hard to tell.
It’s called Milltown by Turtle Bay Floors from Lake Street Home. With it’s simulated circle saw marks, scrapes and knots that are further enhanced with texture that matches the milling and distress marks it LOOKS and FEELS like reclaimed wood. FARMHOUSE PANTRY DOOR WITH CRYSTAL KNOB
We were SO excited when we saw a local listing for this beautiful antique Wisconsin farmhouse door. We redesigned our pantry to make this baby fit even after they had framed in the original pantry. My husband and our contractor came up with a fix to make a larger door work in the space. He cleaned it up a bit and painted it Mindful Gray from Sherwin Williams.
We found a fun Arts & Crafts style lock set, which was more my husband’s style, and paired it with a crystal knob, which was more my style, to combine a look that worked for both of us. House of Antique Hardware has so many cool time period elements to add a whimsical touch to any space. We even ordered the matching rustic door hinges to complete the look.
Joanna’s Magnolia wreath and a cute barn light complete this pantry door makeover!
FARMHOUSE DETAILS
We found our farmhouse table and chairs at a unique shop in an old barn that no longer exists. We designed the size of the table area to fit it perfectly. My Magnolia Bakery sign and a Pottery Barn chandelier add impact to the dining area.
I love mixing metals and used both brushed nickel and oil-rubbed bronze elements throughout the entire house. In the kitchen, you’ll see brushed nickel bar pulls, appliances, and faucet. You’ll also notice the oil-rubbed bronze light fixtures, door hardware, and decor throughout the room. I like to think of metals as neutrals, as long as you have a balanced mix or keep the same metal on a similar line of sight, it works!
I’ve already had so many people ask me where the island pendants are from. The lights are from Wayfair and at such a great price point! Our bar stools are from a local furniture store and my kitchen runner is from Target.

Meal prep is so much more fun in a kitchen that you love!
Yes it is!!!
Love your kitchen Sarah. SO jealous. Cannot wait to redo our kitchen. What kind of countertops did you go with? Marble?
Thank you so much! They are actually quartz but they look like Carrera marble. there is no maintenance with quartz, with marble you have to worry about staining. I love them!
Love your style! We are moving to a new home next month and I am drawing inspiration from your kitchen. We love carrera marble but will likely go with quartz for your same reasons. Do you know the specific name of the quartz you chose?
That’s so exciting!!! Ugh I threw away the little sample with the name on it! I’m not sure what it’s called! I’m sure wherever you go to buy your quartz they’d have a similar version if you say you like the look of Carrera marble!
Thanks for the reply! We have some of those samples sitting around as we speak 🙂 Both are similar to the Carrerra I believe. One is Calcatta Classique and one is Calcatta Laza. I will do some research as well as ask the sellers. Thanks again!
Sarah,
I’m in love with those floors!! The whole kitchen is beautiful!! Great choices, you’ve got a great eye for detail!!
Thank you so much Cindy! I loved every minute of building!
Beautiful!! What are your island dimensions?
Thank you! It’s 98.5”x37.5”
BEAUTIFUL! I am in the process of building and am going with a similar style kitchen. Would love to see what you choose for lighting in the kids/master bedrooms & bathrooms!

Hi! Love your kitchen! I’m searching for a good neutral wall color- what color paint did you use on the walls here? Thanks!
Thank you! It’s First Star by Sherwin Williams… very very very light gray!
Hi! Beautiful Kitchen!! May I ask what color you’re using on your trim?
It’s called Sherwin Williams Straight White – no tint 🙂
Gorgeous kitchen! May I ask, where are the floors from and the name?
There’s actually a section in the post all about the floors! They are Milltown by Turtle Bay Floors from Lake Street Home. There’s a direct link in the post and even a discount code for my followers 🙂
I love your oven! We are building a house right now and are deciding on kitchen appliances. What brand is it and where did you buy it?
Thank you! All my appliances in the kitchen and even my washer and dryer are Maytag. I loved the modern shaped handles! I bought them at Silica in Fond du Lac, WI!
I love your kitchen! We are in the process of designing our kitchen. I love your cabinets. Are they custom?
Thank you! Yes, they were made by the building supply company our builder uses!
Absolutely beautiful! I’m planning my kitchen reno. Walls are coming down and a large island will be added. I’m wondering about how much space I should leave between the stove and island and also the refrigerator and island. (I’m going to get the same French door style.) I’ve seen official recommendations, but I would like to know what you have and how that works for you. My island will have a small prep sink across from the stove. Thanks for your help.
Thank you! The stove is 45.5 inches away from the island counter and that is more than enough space for me. The fridge is 37 inches away from the island counter but is also in front of our dishwasher. It works fine but I wish it was about 6 inches farther away so that it was easier to walk past when the dishwasher door was open all the way. Hope that helps!
How exactly did you hang the wreath on the pantry door?
Fishing line and a small nail! I just showed it on my Insta Stories if you want to go see exactly! http://www.instagram.com/sugarmaplenotes
I’m in love with your kitchen! Did you use Mindful Gray at 100% on the pantry door? That’s the color we are thinking of using on our cabinets.
Thank you! Yes, it was 100% Mindful Gray 🙂
Such a beautiful kitchen! How wide is your kitchen and dining room area combined? I want to do the exact layout in a 19 foot wide space, but am unsure that the dining room table would fit next to the kitchen like yours. Thanks!
Thank you so much! It’s just under 24 feet so it could probably work!
I love your farmhouse kitchen! I am using these pics for inspiration for our new home we are building this year. Is there anyway you could give me the deminsions of your kitchen, dining and living room? I need help with room size…lol. Floor plans are not my strong suit.
Send me an email and I can send you the dimensions!
The discount code for the flooring no longer works 🙁.
Does this particular floor require an underlayment?
It looks beautiful in your home!
Unfortunately, the code is from a couple of years ago now! You could reach out to the company and see if they’d honor it! It’s worth a shot. Then you could ask about the flooring requirements as well. We had it installed by professionals into a new build so I’m not sure what the process was 🙂
I’ll give it a try!
How are the floors holding up? I’m so nervous to go for it 😬.
Thank you for replying!
They are beautiful floors! They hold up great 🙂
Beautiful kitchen! What are the dimensions of your pantry and the door width? Thank you
Can you send me an email?
The pantry is about 4’1” x 4’1”. And the door is 32”
Hi there! Do you have any photos that show the corner of the fridge from the table side of the room? Thanks!
So pretty. Looking to do something similar. Can you tell me the dimensions of your kitchen, dining and living area? It’s so hard to visualize! Thank you.
