We’ve been living in our newly built home for just over six months now. It’s been a journey over the last year choosing every last detail to create a space for our young family to grow into. During the build process, we discovered just how detailed a home is when you choose everything from the door hinges and lighting to the paint colors and the width of of your siding. Seriously, every little detail was taken into consideration.

After moving in, I had this urge to decorate all of the spaces and get everything in its place as soon as possible. Excitement overload! Yet, even though we moved pretty quickly with the placement of the furniture we’ve been much slower and more thoughtful with hanging things on the brandnew flawless walls and placing decor.

I recently discovered Minted New Wall Art collection and got lost exploring the pages of art and photography, imagining how the pieces might look and feel in our new home. Minted curates a unique collection of fine art from independent designers and artists around the globe. The fine art pieces are carefully curated, continually refreshed, and only available in limited quantities. SO COOL. As I perused the pages of art, I thought very carefully about which pieces would elevate our newly built home.

Living in a space is very different from seeing a rendering on paper. I knew I wanted to live day-to-day in our new home and carefully choose the art and decor we placed in our home over time. I found that some of my old pieces from our last home just didn’t feel right in our new space. And, I wanted to make sure the new pieces were special and added a unique aesthetic in our home, while adding character and life.

Our prior house had many, many walls… so many walls. Our vision for our new home was to open up our main living space so that we could all be together as a family, and make sure that we were using our square footage every day, and not just for special occasions. Well, with open concept living also comes fewer walls, thus fewer spaces to decorate, making my decisions for choosing just what to add to the walls even more precise. I want to make sure the pieces we put up really spoke to us.

One of our main goals in designing our new home was to keep the colors and spaces light and airy. We met that goal by choosing a color palette of whites and grays and larger windows to let natural light in. But we definitely don’t want our home to feel sterile. So, we added rich wood furniture, flooring and unique elements like our authentic barn wood mantel. The stone we chose for our fireplace reminds me of an old farm wall, and the natural white washing on the beam blends in perfectly with the colors of our home.

Our Wisconsin roots seem to have drawn us towards farmhouse and country styles. But, the organized clean-freak within myself causes me to favor the more modern twist to the design aesthetic. After spending time browsing the Minted collection, I ultimately chose pieces that reflect our modern farmhouse vibe.

I love the nod to nature in the smaller floral piece named Mokuren 02. Mokuren means “Magnolia” in Japanese and generally symbolizes Yin, the feminine side of life, love, and friends.

Our new long horn friend in this print called Brandir by Amy Carroll allows us to have a statement piece on the mantel without it overwhelming the space. I’m drawn to her sweet face and the curves of her horn, yet the stark contrast of the white sky above gives me the simplicity that makes me feel at peace.

I chose Minted’s Whitewashed French Farmhouse frame option for each piece. The frames are hand carved and made from sustainable mango wood with a distressed whitewashed finish, much like our fireplace mantel.

I also added the artist’s signatures to each print as I think knowing who created these limited edition fine art pieces is part of why they are so special and truly elevate our new home.

I’d love to know which pieces speak to you! Go browse Minted New Wall Art collection and come back and tell me in the comments! 🙂
