When we planned our trip to San Antonio, I had to find out if I could squeeze in a visit to Magnolia Market in a day. Upon discovering that it was only about a two and half hour drive away, we extended our trip by a day so we could enjoy the total Magnolia experience. As a huge Fixer Upper and Chip and Joanna fan, it was such a treat to see everything in person. Below you’ll find a comprehensive guide to visiting Magnolia Market in a Day.
MAGNOLIA TABLE
Location | 2132 S Valley Mills Dr, Waco, TX 76706 (about a 7 minute drive and 2.5 miles from Magnolia Market)
Parking | You’ll see Magnolia Table as your exiting the highway. It’s right off Interstate 35 and it is surrounded by parking lots. People seem to be frequently coming and going, so we were able to snag a close spot as someone pulled away.
Reservations | Magnolia Table does not take reservations over the phone, BUT you can stop by and put your name in for a table. We visited on a Monday at 11:30am and the wait time was 1.5 hours. You do not need to stay on-site while you wait. You give them your cell phone number and they will shoot you a text 30 minutes before your table is ready, so you can make your way back to the restaurant if you choose to leave and go explore Waco while you wait.
While You Wait | If the weather is nice, you can grab a coffee from the patio area and sit and relax while you wait for your table. You can also visit the Market and Take-Away area and grab a sandwich to-go or shop for gift items.
Or, you can leave to go explore Waco. I wouldn’t recommend trying to hit-up Magnolia Market during this time because you’ll want to spend a good chunk of time there and not be rushed. We spent about 3 hours at Magnolia Market, but if the weather was nicer, we could have stayed a lot longer.
We decided to stop at The Findery – a super cute farmhouse style home goods and clothing store located nearby the Silos. Another idea would be to go visit the Little Shop on Bosque, which is Joanna’s original store location and is now a spot to find slightly damaged and last chance Magnolia items at a deal.
What To Order | THE BISCUITS! We ordered the biscuits with strawberry jam and they were so delicious! You can order just one or a serving of three for the table. I ordered the Farm Eggs Benedict and Jeremy ordered the French Toast Breakfast. Mmmm! I highly recommend the Texan Pecan coffee. You’ll also get salted caramels served up with your check. They are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!
MAGNOLIA MARKET
Location | 601 Webster Ave, Waco, TX 76706 (Look for the Silos! It’s easy to spot when you’re nearby.)
Parking | We were able to find a free street parking spot not far from the silos. There are also signs directing you to Magnolia’s free gravel parking lot that’s located on the Silos property. Some guests opted to take the free trolley that has multiple lots located throughout downtown Waco and stops right in front of Magnolia Market.
What’s On-Site? | The property contains the large Magnolia Market warehouse, the renown Silos, a Seed + Supply Store with garden, the Silos Baking Co., and a large courtyard for playing games or enjoying food from one of the many food trucks surrounding the property.
Photo Opportunities | There are plenty of spots for a photo opportunity at Magnolia Market! But, these are the iconic spots you don’t want to miss!
- In front of the Magnolia Market entrance.
- In front of the Silos and underneath the metal Magnolia sign.
- In front of the white brick wall of the Silos Baking Co. that says Welcome to the Silos.
- Near the Magnolia green jeep.
- Underneath the Miles To Magnolia metal cutout sign.
Shopping | It’s just incredibly stunning inside of Magnolia Market. Even the shopping bags they lend you while you browse are beautiful. (And, of course, available for purchase.) I had to make purchases that would fit inside my carry-on, so I selected small items. A small glass butter dish, t-shirts for me and my husband, a plant spritzer, and seeds and a bath bomb from the Seed + Supply shop. Since we spent over $100 we were also given a complimentary coffee mug made by a local artisan. There’s so much to look at and take in, so enjoy your time and make sure to stop by the leather bags and jewelry corner because the items are just so unique!

SILOS BAKING CO.
Location | 601 Webster Ave, Waco, TX 76706 (on-site with Magnolia Market, but separate building)
While You Wait | The line for bakery goods, wrapped around the outside of the building. But, don’t let that discourage you. The line moved quickly. As soon as we made it inside, a greeter handed us a pencil and order form. We chose our cupcakes via the form and when we got up to the cashier we handed it over and paid.
What To Order | There are all sorts of pastries, breads, and sweets to choose from, as well as many grab-and-go cold beverages. We went with the seasonal Carrot Cake cupcake, Lemon Lavender, Strawberries N’ Cream, and the Classic cupcake. I can’t decide between the Lemon Lavender and Strawberries N’ Cream as my favorite!
WHERE TO FLY INTO
Waco, Texas is just about smack dab in the middle of San Antonio, Dallas, and Houston, so you have plenty of international airports to choose to fly into. However, Dallas (DFW) is the closest choice.
- Dallas -> 1 hour and 40 minutes (113 miles)
- San Antonio -> 2 hours 40 minutes (175 miles)
- Houston -> 2 hours 50 minutes (190 miles)
Take a carry-on and save on time and money by not checking a bag…
We both used our TLS Mother Lode Mini Carry-On Duffel’s from eBags for our weekend trip to San Antonio. These seriously fit everything we needed for a weekend getaway. (Read about our experience in San Antonio here.) I love that this bag comes in so many colors! I stuck with the sleek black color and Jeremy went with the heathered graphite, which is very cool and modern. It’s jammed packed with features like a convenient top pocket for your phone, tickets, and wallet, and an optional divider panel on the inside to separate your clothes or shoes. Go see Jeremy’s graphite colored bag here.
OTHER THINGS TO NOTE
- What day is least busy? | Don’t plan a day trip on a SUNDAY! All Magnolia businesses are closed on Sunday. That being said, the employees told me Tuesday and Wednesday are their slowest days of the week.
- Will I see Chip or Joanna? | We didn’t! And I can’t imagine they pop up too often as they’d get swarmed for pictures. But, I did see Joanna’s mom at Magnolia Table and I hear she’s there often.
- Is Waco tiny? | It’s bigger than I imagined. It’s a small city with a college and plenty of stores, hotels, and restaurants. The population is 136,436. BUT, you will see a lot of run-down homes in need of Chip and Joanna’s revival!
- Is Chip and Joanna’s farmhouse nearby? | Not really. They live in Crawford, Texas which is a suburb of Waco. It’s about a half hour away, which I’m sure is nice so that they don’t get fans driving by all of the time. Everyone needs their privacy!

I’ll be honest: I know virtually nothing about Chip & Joanna other than that they’re famous and great decorators haha. However, this looks like an amazing place to visit no matter what. Every single corner is Instagrammable and SO CUTE. Plus, the food sounds divine at the restaurant, and the market looks like a great place to find some fun home things!
