We created a fun and easy Thanksgiving Book Nook for Kids in Evie’s bedroom. A mix between gratitude and fall themed books sit on the ledges. The kids can easily choose a book from the display each night leading up to the holiday. The Book Nook shines a new light on old books and brings attention to recently added books.
How to Create a Book Nook
You don’t necessarily need a book nook made up of display ledges like ours. You can accomplish the same idea by using a designated basket. It’s a fun way to separate and highlight the seasonal books from the rest of your collection.
Do you already have a book basket or book nook where you feature your holiday or seasonal books for your family? We just took down our spooky Halloween Book Nook! Make sure you go see that one here.
We add a few books to our holiday and seasonal collections each year. With being home so much and also homeschooling this year, I’ve added even more new books than usual. Plus, I’m a huge book lover, so these books are gifts for me just as much as for my kids!
If you visit my Amazon shop, you can find all my themed kids book lists there – Thanksgiving + Fall Kids Books – Christmas Kids Books – Halloween Kids Books.
Thanksgiving and Fall Themed Books
This year, we added the beautiful book Thanksgiving in the Woods. It’s based on a true story about a family who celebrates Thanksgiving in their woods. All are welcome as they gather together to share a hot meal, a bon fire with smores, and laughter with friends and family – old and new. It’s a wonderful story that harnesses the feeling of togetherness.
We love the Shine-A-Light series from Usborne. This year we added Secrets of the Apple Tree. It’s a non-fiction book with plenty of fun facts about trees and the critters that live in trees. Each page hides a picture that is revealed with a flashlight. The kids love these books.
Apple Cake is a lovely story about gratitude. Each pages is beautifully illustrated with something that the little girl is thankful for. The book even includes a recipe for Apple Cake. Read this book and bake the cake with your children to add a rich tradition to your autumn season. Practice the act of giving by delivering the cake to a neighbor or family member.
I also store my holiday books away with that particular season’s decor, so that the books feel new again each time we open up those boxes for the year. The Book Nook is a magical little spot for us in our home. I can’t wait to deck it with our Christmas spirit! Go check out my kids Thanksgiving + Fall book list here.
If you need a new snuggly friend in your home, check out these adorable Slumberkins. We just added Honey Bear to our collection. The bear who helps teach Gratitude.
