Weekend Chex Mix

November 23, 2015January 8, 2016 - Sarah 2 Comments

My sister and I started making chex mix back when we lived together during college. We added our favorite snacks rather than just regular pretzels and peanuts. Since then, it has become my go-to snack recipe for long weekends. Opening weekend for hunting season made for the perfect time to make a big batch. IRead more

These are a few of my favorite baby things…

November 19, 2015June 21, 2016 - Sarah 6 Comments

I remember feeling so overwhelmed when it came to starting my baby registry. I asked for advice from other parents and I would hear generic terms like bottles, blankets, diapers, baby monitor, etc. I remember thinking, right, but what EXACTLY should I buy because there are thousands of items to choose from for each babyRead more

Playing with Pumpkins

November 18, 2015January 8, 2016 - Sarah 4 Comments

It’s not too late to play with pumpkins this fall! Evelyn loved picking out pumpkins for the family at a local farm down the road from our home. It was one of those perfect fall days for being outside – colorful leaves, a cool breeze, but warm sun and that scent of autumn in theRead more

Costa Rica Sabbatical

November 16, 2015May 17, 2018 - Sarah 4 Comments

It’s my 5 year work anniversary! I’m lucky to work for a company that has pretty cool benefits, one of which is a month long sabbatical trip gifted every 5 years. Next spring, my family and I will be heading to beautiful Costa Rica! I took a lot of different factors into consideration when choosing a destinationRead more

Refurbishing Childhood Dressers

November 15, 2015January 8, 2016 - Sarah 2 Comments

When you get married you inherit a lot of each other’s stuff. The good, the bad and the ugly. Bringing it all together in your home consists of compromise. Among these inherited items, were my husband’s old childhood dressers. They were beat up, well used and dated. But they functioned well and had a niceRead more

Timeline to Motherhood

November 14, 2015January 8, 2016 - Sarah 2 Comments

TIMELINE TO MOTHERHOOD: 2009 | A tall and handsome guy named Jeremy took me out for dinner and a movie and I knew I would soon be his girlfriend. 2011 | We went hiking through Parfrey’s Glen and in that moment when we reached the bottom of a beautiful lush ravine, I become his fiancé. 2012Read more

Someday.

I remember sitting in college earning my degree in Journalism & Mass Communication thinking maybe I’d work for a magazine someday. I imagined writing about beautiful homes, celebrations, and everyday life.

Turns out, life had a different plan.

Years ago, I started a little blog called Mrs. Harmy. Inspired by HGTV and stacks of home magazines, I dreamed of creating something of my own. Eventually that dream evolved into SUGARMAPLEnotes, a lifestyle brand that gave me the freedom to share the things I genuinely love: family, home, books, holidays, Midwest life, and all the little moments in between.

People say you need a niche, but I could never fit my life into one box. I’ve always wanted to share what inspires me and what real life looks like.

And now, this little office.

From an unfinished basement… to drywall… to a space that’s completely my own.

When I graduated, I never imagined I’d be working from home, building my own business, and creating a schedule flexible enough to be present for my family. Sure, there are deadlines and responsibilities, but there’s also freedom. And that’s something I don’t take for granted.

This little nook isn’t just an office.

It’s a reminder that sometimes the dreams you end up living don’t look anything like the ones you originally imagined.

I’m grateful for that. 🤍

Father’s Day gifting just got easier 💙

All sets from Caraway are currently on sale right now, which makes this the perfect time to pick up a gift Dad will actually use (and love) 👔🍳

Even better, code SUGARMAPLENOTES10 stacks on top for an extra 10% off, so it’s a really great time to upgrade the kitchen with something practical, beautiful, and non-toxic.

And I love this part 👇
Customers shopping on the website can also take advantage of limited-time gift with purchase offers:

✨ Orders $495+ receive a free ButcherBox gift (valued at $169)
✨ Orders $795+ receive a free ButcherBox gift + a free Caraway Cast Iron Grill Pan

If you’ve been here a while, you know I’ve been slowly switching our home over to more non-toxic essentials, and Caraway has been a big part of that shift for me. It’s one of those brands that just makes everyday cooking feel better.

If you’re still looking for a Father’s Day gift, this is one of those “he’ll actually use it every day” wins.

I’ve never been to an estate sale, so naturally I had to check one out… 👀

I wandered through rooms of vintage treasures and found a stamped Longaberger basket (please tell me your mom hosted those parties too 😂).

Then, just down the street, I stopped at a rummage sale and scored a brand new TaylorMade golf bag that I still can’t believe I found.

Safe to say this probably won’t be my last estate sale adventure.

❤️ Heart this reel if you love a good thrifted find.
💬 Tell me: What’s the best thing you’ve ever found secondhand?
✨ Follow along for more thrifting, estate sales, and Midwest mom life.

Should I go to another estate sale? Because I think I’m hooked… 👀

I went into TJ Maxx for absolutely nothing… and somehow left with a full bag. 😂

So naturally, I had to show you everything I picked up! A mix of home essentials and a few fun fashion finds for myself because TJ Maxx just has the best random treasures.

And I need your opinion… should I keep or return the chocolate brown purse? 🤎👇

Also, if you want the link to this cute Amazon sweater (it’s lightweight, perfect for summer, and comes in a bunch of colors), just comment SHOP and I’ll send it your way!

For years we talked about it, wondering if we should wait until the timing was better, the kids were older, or life slowed down a little.

But one thing we’ve learned is that there will always be reasons to wait.

So we stopped waiting.

Not because we needed a boat, but because we wanted more summer evenings, more laughs, more tubing, more sunset cruises, and more memories while our kids are still young enough to think spending the day with Mom and Dad is the best thing ever.

The boat won’t last forever, but the memories we make on it will.☀️🚤🤍

If you’ve been waiting for your sign… maybe this is it. 😉

Tag or share this with someone who needs a little encouragement to just buy the boat and make the memories now.
