Don’t get me wrong, I love having plans and fun things lined up to do on the weekend, but I absolutely cherish a plan-free weekend when it comes around. That is exactly what happened this past weekend… zero plans. My husband played in a hockey tournament in town so Evelyn and I got to hang out, just us girls, and do whatever we wanted!

But First Coffee

We threw multiple dance parties, colored like artists, read books, played hide-and-seek, hung out in our jammies, watched Disney Fairies… it was pretty spectacular. I also got laundry done, the bathrooms scrubbed, the playroom organized, and blueberry muffins made. Woo hoo!

Dance Party

We did end up watching one of my husband’s hockey games because it was so beautiful out for a Wisconsin winter day. It was about 35 degrees and sunny, so I bundled up Evie in her snow pants and we played on the icy pond while dad played in his game. I didn’t end up seeing much (any) of the game, since I was mostly chasing around an excited toddler who was eating snow, licking the ice and about to slip and fall at any moment. But we were nearby, supporting daddy the best we could.

After all that running around, mom deserved a Starbucks, so we went through the drive-through (Thank goodness for Starbucks drive-throughs. Thank you Starbucks, thank you.) Before picking up pizza and heading home, we took a cart ride through Michael’s craft store and went a little crazy. I ended up with $50 worth of crafting supplies for Evie and I to tackle on Sunday. We got coloring books, new crayons, washable markers, and Valentine’s Day card supplies (Read about that project here. They turned out SO cute!).

Evelyn was zonked out from our fun carefree weekend together. What’s your favorite thing to do on a zero-plans weekend?

  1. Looking at all of these little ones makes me wish I would have done that kind of stuff with my children when they were little. Now, within two months I will have a house full of teenagers. I do love how mothers such as yourself take pride in what they do with their little ones. I’ve never really before seen that as much as I do now. Imagine how your shaping such a precious life. I love it. 😊 She’s precious!

    1. It’s amazing how fast time flies when you’re a parent. Every moment is so precious! Being a full-time working mama, I definitely try to take advantage of the weekends and time off with her.

  2. How fun! I love low key weekends with the little ones! Especially in the snow! We don’t get much snow (if any at all out) out here in the Pacific NW. And Starbucks…a moms best friend at times. By the way, your little is adorable!
